COLORADO SPRINGS - On October 1 police received a call regarding a suspicious Craigslist ad. The posting warned that "a child will die if no one comes to get it." A picture was attached to the post and showed a newborn with an umbilical cord attached. It also said the infant was to be placed into a trashcan in front of some apartments.
Initial reports said police thought the posting was a hoax. Authorities now say they are treating the investigation as real until proven otherwise. Colorado Springs Police say they traced the IP address of the listing to residents who had no knowledge of the Craigslist listing advertising a newborn. Police are urging the Colorado Springs couple to contact them.
