Dead baby found in travel bag
WESTMINSTER - The body of a "near term fetus or term infant" was found stuffed in a cloth travel bag in a Westminster home on Wednesday, officials said. The homeowner told investigators he smelled a foul odor coming from the basement and located the baby in a bag in the corner. The body was decomposed and mummified, and later determined to be a near term male.
25-year-old Melinda Hudson turned herself in to Westminster Police shortly after the body was found and pleaded guilty to criminally negligent child abuse. Her eight year sentence will include therapy and substance abuse treatment.
